Instructions for use and maintenance of household sewage treatment plant with leach drainage
Every resident who has installed the household sewage treatment plant is responsible for correct operation. This instruction will help you understand how it works and what steps should be taken by the house owner to ensure proper operation of the system.
How does work the sewage treatment plant?
Household sewage is fed to septic tank, where they are pre-treated in the process of anaerobic digestion. Partially treated sewage flows through the post-treatment filter and are directed to distribution chamber which by it design provides its equal distribution to drainage pipes and to the leach bed, where the final biological treatment process takes place with participation of aerobic bacteria. Sewage leached with drainage pipes soaks through the soil layers. Next comes the process of biological decomposition for mineral substances and finally leak into the groundwater. To ensure effective cycle function, an aeration and ventilation system provides permanent air flow between aeration chimneys and sewage system deaeration outlet which should be directed over the roof in the building. Good ventilation is a prerequisite for proper operation of household sewage treatment plant. If the treatment plant is working properly, it eliminates effectively hazardous substances in household sewage, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, disease-causing bacteria, viruses.
How to maintain the household sewage treatment plant?
At least once every six months the survey must be made - check how great is the sludge on the bottom of the septic tank of solid substances which the bacteria have not been able to consume, and remove and rinse the filter cartridge. If the sludge will be significant (is approaching to a quarter of the septic tank capacity) the aseanization vehicle should be called and the sludge must be removed, and then fill up the septic tank with water. The frequency of sludge removal depends on the number of residents, amount of sewage produced, the amount of solid substances in the sewage. The average sludge removal period is 2-3 years.
During sludge removal the treatment to restore patency of leach drainage is also to be carried out. To do this: introduce to the drainage the bacteria to remove biological membrane formed on the package walls and do not use for 24 hours the drainage.
We recommend to use for this purpose the ENZYMIX preparation produced by BIOZYM, ul. Naramowicka 236, 61-601 Poznań. E-mail: biuro(at)biozym.pl, www.biozym.pl Such treatment being made regularly every 2-3 years guarantees a long lifetime of drainage.
The average norm of water consumption in a typical individual household for one resident is 100 litres per day. Leaking toilets can waste with up to 900 litres of water a day and cause the system overload.
What can not be disposed of via the toilet? Personal hygiene products, diapers, cotton swabs, cigarette butts, dregs, the cat litter, paper towels, condoms and other articles of bathroom and kitchen. Flushing of household chemicals, gasoline, oil, coolants, paints may disrupt or interrupt the process of biological treatment. Germicides, such as bleach, destroy bacteria present in the system, leading to reduced efficiency of sewage treatment. Chemicals for cleaning toilets, cleaning sewers, and other highly caustic chemicals are readily available for home use. Warning on the label should indicate that they may have a detrimental effect on the process that takes place in household treatment system. The amount of introduced floatable materials, such as fats, oils, greases, is to be kept to a minimum. Owners of household sewage treatment plants can not install whirlpool baths, which require the large amounts of water, and use grinders to comminute the waste. To prevent the destruction of bacteria flora in the system, feeding the new bacteria must support it. We recommend you to use the ENZYBAC preparation produced by BIOZYM (www.biozym.pl) according the recommendations of the manufacturer.
Area for installation of household sewage treatment plant
Septic tank or drainage can not be installed under roads. The area should be enclosed and cows, horses, etc can not access it.
Guarantee and warranty
We guarantee that the installed plant is free from defects in materials and workmanship. Polyethylene tanks are manufactured in accordance with applicable standard and approval and are warranted for a period of not less than 10 years, provided that they are operated in accordance with the recommendations of the manufacturer. This warranty is null and void if: the plant is operated contrary to instructions, suggestions or recommendations; there is a negligence or intentional harmful actions by people being in contact with sewage treatment plant; the sewage treatment plant is forced to be operated in inappropriate conditions or is exposed to loads in excess of the recommended size; earthquake, fire, flood, lightning or landslide is occured.
